The transfer guru claimed that a verbal agreement has been reached with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli over a switch amid uncertainty over the Senegalese shotstopper's future.
Mendy has just two-years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and after a lack of movement over a renewal in recent months, an exit seemed the most likely solution. The 31-year-old galvanized the Blues towards a famous Champions League victory in 2021, but his form and injury record has been a concern since.
With those issues in mind, the move may be best for all parties involved, with Mendy agreeing a three-year deal with Al-Ahli, with just the signing of contracts and confirmation left to go. It is likely to see the goalkeeper join up with a host of other Chelsea players in the Saudi league.
