Chelsea injury list in full ahead of Leeds United trip as midfield duo doubtful

Leeds United continue their battle to beat the Premier League drop on Wednesday as they host third-placed Chelsea. The Whites will be looking to move out of the bottom three after their defeat at Arsenal, and Everton’s win at Leicester City meant they slipped to 18th place.

Opponents Chelsea, though, who appeared to have the top four sewn up just a few weeks ago, will also be in need of points at Elland Road as they sit just five points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth. The Blues have an FA Cup final just a few days after their clash with Leeds, meaning manager Thomas Tuchel is in a difficult situation in terms of rotation.

Ahead of the game, here is an early look at Chelsea’s injury list.

N’Golo Kante

N’Golo Kante has missed Chelsea’s last two matches after picking up an injury in their draw at Manchester United late last month. Kante was close to returning for Wolves on Saturday but did not quite make it and so could be available for the trip to Leeds.

What Thomas Tuchel said: "For N'Golo, it [Wolves] comes too early."

Jorginho

Jorginho also missed the draw with Wolves on Saturday after being withdrawn at half-time of the defeat at Everton six days earlier. The extent of his injury has not been confirmed by Tuchel, meaning it is unclear whether he’ll be involved at Elland Road.

What Thomas Tuchel said: "Jorgi is out as well."

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has been injured for a number of weeks, with Chelsea taking his recovery carefully. Tuchel has not confirmed when he is set to return, meaning it is unlikely he will be in the squad against Leeds.

What Thomas Tuchel said (April 19): “With Callum, we take things day by day, week by week but it is not possible for him to join in with team training just yet. We will not rush him either.”

Ben Chilwell

Wing back Ben Chilwell has been absent for over six months now as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury. The England international is out for the season.

What Thomas Tuchel said (April 19): “Ben will still be able to join in team training with the youth, this will be his next step in the weeks, and hopefully he can join our training at the end of the season.”
