The Premier League received its first sign of the strength that Manchester City will have in next year's title race as they confirmed the signing of Norway international from Borussia Dortmund.
In a statement released on the club's official website, City said: "Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022." The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player."
Once personal terms have been agreed with Haaland, the thought of facing the 21-year-old will be a fearsome prospect, with City already set to win this season's Premier League it could be just the start of a new period of dominance from Pep Guardiola and his charges.

The move will be a disappointment to Chelsea and their fans, having been linked to the striker in the past. Haaland scored 85 goals in 88 games during his two and a half seasons at Borussia Dortmund following a move from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.
Following confirmation of the move, the football world has reacted in predictable fashion, with many clearly worried about the impact Haaland may have on the Premier League.
Here is how some of Chelsea's fans reacted to the move on Twitter:
@DanielKanuJohn: Tbh with Haaland at City, Dias at Liverpool. Chelsea need to make smart signings this summer inorder to compete for the PL, UCL and others, sell off all the dead weights in the club and try to revamp the critical areas Tuchel needs and back Emma Hayes too.
@damifc_: This Haaland transfer feels like when Chelsea chased Aguero, only for City to sign him & he terrorized us for years.
@Harry_Chelsea__: City get Haaland, big business needed to challenge these lot.
@TacticalChels_: Now that City have signed Erling Haaland, I think I'm speaking for every Chelsea fan when I say Todd Boehly should go all out and save Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur prison
