Chelsea are preparing an attempt to hijack a transfer for Mykhaylo Mudryk after Arsenal submitted an improved offer for the Shakhtar Donetsk star. The Gunners have sent an improved offer worth around £62million as sporting director Edu Gaspar continues to thrash out a deal with the Ukrainian club.
Mikel Arteta is hoping to add a new attacker to his squad with Arsenal prioritising a move for Mudryk in the January transfer window. Gabriel Jesus suffered a knee injury during the World Cup that will keep him sidelined until February leaving the Gunners' attacking options weakened.
Chelsea are set to be one of the busiest Premier League clubs in January as Todd Boehly looks to reinforce Graham Potter's squad, with a forward, central midfielder, centre-back and right wing-back on the agenda, football.london understands. The Blues are closing in on a deal to sign Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile but could now look to hijack Arsenal's move for Mudryk.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are set to make a last ditch attempt to sign the Ukraine international ahead of their London rivals with Shakhtar Donetsk chief Darijo Srna set to travel to the English capital this week. The Ukrainian club have publicly demanded a fee close to £85million, with the Gunners' latest offer of £62million falling well below their asking price.
The report claims that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms over a five-year deal, worth around £120,000-per-week, with the player himself having dropped huge hints that he wants to move to the Emirates Stadium. Chelsea could beat their rivals to a deal should they agree to meet the asking price with a bid in the region of £60million, with another £20million included in add-ons.
The Blues are said to be pursuing a deal for Argentina World Cup hero and Benfica star Enzo Fernandez in a deal worth in excess of £100million. Boehly spent close to £300million in the summer transfer window and now looks set to flex Chelsea's financial power once again with the west London outfit in need of reinforcements to secure a top four spot come the end of the season.
