Chelsea unveiled Mykhailo Mudryk as their fifth signing of the January transfer window on Sunday afternoon. The Blues hijacked Arsenal's move for the 22-year-old and secured an £88million deal to sign the winger to bolster Graham Potter's attacking options.
Chelsea sent delegates to meet with Shakhtar Donetsk chiefs and thrash out a deal swiftly after initially holding a meeting at Stamford Bridge earlier this month. Mudryk had expressed a desire to move to the Premier League and despite serious interest from the Gunners, it was the Blues that won the race for his signature.
There is expected to be more incomings at Stamford Bridge before the January transfer window slams shut, with a central midfielder and backup option for Reece James thought to be on Todd Boehly's agenda. The Blues may be able to repeat a similar trick as the Mudryk deal once again and sign the perfect deputy for the England international by hijacking a move for another Arsenal transfer target.

A report from The Telegraph has revealed the north London outfit have joined the race for Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda and have serious interest in the teenager. There is competition from teams across Europe, including Newcastle United, but the Gunners have made their admiration for the 18-year-old clear in recent days.
Valladolid have hinted that Fresneda could leave the club this month, but Arsenal may prefer to wait until the summer to make their move, if they decide to step up their interest in the talented defender. Chelsea are in need of a capable backup for James, who suffered another injury setback after making a return in the win against Bournemouth last month.
It is thought that Fresneda could be available for around £10million-£15million. Any final fee could depend on the number of teams who commit to making formal offers, but the Blues hold financial advantage as shown with Mudryk's signing.
