Chelsea's late window moves in recent years have been mixed. For every Olivier Giroud has been a Fernando Torres - debate all you like, he was a failure for £50m.
Saul Niguez was the man last summer whilst Denis Zakaria and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were emergency measures in Todd Boehly's first window. It doesn't matter how efficient the planning is or the depths of an owner's pocket, deadline day panic sets in.
The window so far has felt very different though. Although seven signings and nearly £200m spent may not seem calm, especially not mid-season, and the continued addition of attackers upon attackers has created a backlog of players, the plan is straightforward.
