Chelsea and Tottenham have huge summers ahead of them, with the transfer window just days away from opening. Both London clubs are linked with a number of options, especially in defence, after they confirmed a place in next season’s Champions League.
The Blues are in particular need for cover at the back, with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen set to leave the club at the end of their contracts, while Marcos Alonso and César Azpilicueta couold also be on their way out at Stamford Bridge. Discussing the challenges ahead of him in the transfer window, Thomas Tuchel said: “We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge.”
While the German coach looks to rebuild his squad, a former coach of theirs in Antonio Conte is looking to strengthen not too far away. The Italian’s late surge with Spurs saw them finish inside the top four at the expense of rivals Arsenal, with the desire for the club to now kick on.
