ChatGPT: OpenAI confirms worldwide outage has been solved

OpenAI’s hugely popular artificial intelligence-powered chatbot ChatGPT is currently back online, the company has confirmed.

At 1.05pm BST, OpenAI confirmed that ChatGPT is now up and running again, but it is continuing to monitor the service.

If you still experience problems using ChatGPT, it could be because there is a lot of traffic to the service at the moment and a lack of server availability.

In this case, it means OpenAI has placed a limit on how many people can access the chatbot. All you have to do is wait for between five minutes to half-an-hour and then try again.

You can also try refreshing the page, using Incognito mode on your web browser, clearing your browser cache, or using a VPN.

According to Down Detector, reports of an outage from users began to jump into the hundreds around 12.17pm. There are now more than a thousand submitted reports by users.

“The root cause has been identified and the team is working on a fix,” it announced at 12.23pm BST, listing the problem as a “Major Outage”.

Typically, it is not unusual for ChatGPT to fail to load the answer to your questions, at peak times when many people are using the service all at once, but loading issues typically resolve within a few minutes.
