Charlotte Crosby's devastated mum can't see her new grandchild during cancer treatment

Charlotte Crosby 's mum has shared the heartbreaking reason she cannot meet her new grandchild yet.

Former Geordie Shore star Charlotte, 32, became a mother for the first time earlier this month, welcoming a healthy baby girl into the world with her partner Jake Ankers, after striking up a romance with the businessman last year following her split from ex-boyfriend Liam Beaumont in October 2021.

The reality TV star's father was the one to break the happy news online last week, tweeting "So, officially a grand father! Little girl, all is well. Excited for the new chapter in our little family", with the proud new mum going on to share some snaps from the hospital with her bundle of joy.

Sadly, Charlotte's mum Letitia is unable to meet her newborn granddaughter just yet due to the risks attached to her ongoing cancer treatment - something the reality TV star's mum is heartbreakingly devastated about.

Letitia recently started chemotherapy for breast cancer, after being given the devastating diagnosis following a routine mammogram.

Following Charlotte giving birth, proud grandmother Letitia took to her Instagram account to share a candid and upsetting post explaining why she can't meet her grandchild just yet.

"So I am going to get up countdown my days til I am with my daughter and granddaughter. And obviously @jake_ankers, have not being able to see her yet and it's killing," she told her followers, adding: "However, I hitting over half way threw (sic) chemo and cannot risk catching anything to stop this. I need to crack on and get this treatment done to hopefully have many cuddles with my precious girl."

In an additional post sharing a snap of a card congratulating her on becoming a grandmother, Letitia added: "I am bursting with pride and emotion and love for her is a understatement [love-heart emojis]. I have watched my videos a gazillion times over and more thankyou Anne and Phil my neighbours for this beautiful card exciting time ahead."

Last month, just weeks before giving birth, Charlotte confessed how her mother's cancer diagnosis had impacted her pregnancy journey - poignantly revealing how it doesn't feel like she's having a baby at times due to Letitia's health battle.

"With my mum going through chemotherapy and spending over six hours in hospital with her per day, I've got to try to put all the baby business to the back of my mind. I've got zero time to think about it," she admitted.

"It just doesn't feel like I'm having a baby. But at the same time, it feels like I've been pregnant for an eternity," Charlotte added when speaking with new! magazine.

Charlotte revealed she was expecting her first child in April this year, sharing an emotional montage of clips and pictures of her journey to motherhood so far with her Instagram followers at the time.

"A moment I wasn’t sure would ever be mine Is here, it’s mine (and Jakes) and i couldn’t be happier to be sharing it with you all……Im [sic] having a baby," the star captioned the video, where she and Jake could be seen telling their respective families.

As the happy couple sat down with their family after revealing the baby news, Charlotte's mum said: "And, like, you just know when you know, don't you? That it's the right person... when we were away this weekend we were talking [and saying], 'It's just so nice that Charlotte's happy and she's settled and we know this is probably going to be the right one."

Fans were delighted and thrilled for Charlotte, after the star previously shared her fears that she might never become a mother, following her traumatic ectopic pregnancy with former boyfriend Gaz Beadle in 2016.
