Charlie Nicholas devises Celtic exit strategy for Ange as Tottenham 'danger' dodged with Premier League plot twist

Worried Charlie Nicholas has urged Ange Postecoglou to hold out for a dream move to Liverpool rather than take the Premier League gamble with Tottenham.

The Celtic boss has been a revelation since arriving in Scottish football and having already lifted the Viaplay Cup and claimed the Scottish Premiership trophy so far this term. A Scottish Cup Final victory over Inverness Caley Thistle would see Postecoglou claim a Treble - and that impressive return at Celtic Park has caught the eye of Tottenham chief Daniel Levy as he frantically looks for a manager to replace Antonio Conte this summer.

Speculation south of the border has ramped up about Postecoglou arriving in North London after the end of the current campaign after Feyenoord's Arne Slot became the latest high-profile figure to knock back the top job. However, former Celtic star Nicholas reckons it could be a mistake to move to the Premier League this summer.

He has urged the boss to hold fire on any potential exit and look to impress the Anfield higher-ups. Nicholas hopes to see the gaffer remain and push on in the Champions League next term.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, Nicholas said: "He was brought up a Liverpool fan, so if Jurgen Klopp ever stood down that would be a potential danger for Celtic losing him. I think Ange can take his time, pick the right one whatever that may be.

"I’m still hopeful as a Celtic fan that we might have him for one more season and let’s have a go at the Champions League because I love when he goes for it – I don’t believe in sitting back and being protective. I love his attitude towards it and if you take a hit you take a hit.”
