Charlie Bird shares with supporters the 'one thing left' on his bucket list

Charlie Bird has said that seeing Bruce Springsteen in concert is the last remaining item on his bucket list.

The veteran journalist and broadcaster was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in 2021 and has spoken openly about the difficulties facing his mobility. He most recently celebrated the one year anniversary of his 'Climb with Charlie' campaign with a 5km walk in Wicklow, in aid of the Samaritans.

The broadcaster recently took to Twitter to share that he would love to meet Bruce Springsteen when the rock n' roll icon comes to Ireland. Bruce is set to perform three sold out concerts in the RDS next month.

Charlie said: "I would love to meet Bruce Springsteen when he is here. I want 'Land of Hope and Dreams' to be played at my funeral."

He also shared that he goes to sleep most nights listening to the rock tune. Charlie's aspiration did not go unnoticed by his Twitter followers, who vowed to make his dream of meeting the singer a reality.

One person wrote: "Everybody that sees this should tag Bruce Springsteen. The more people that add his name, the more likely it is he'll see the tweet and make Charlie's wish come true."

Charlie shared last year that he hoped to survive long enough to see his musical hero perform in the RDS. His son-in-law Rob previously secured Charlie a ticket for one of the concerts.
