Charli XCX Brat remix album tracklist, release date and features confirmed

Charli XCX has announced details of her upcoming remix album, the jokingly titled Brat and It's Completely Different but Also Still Brat.

The British singer-songwriter, 32, whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison, has had a stellar year with the initial album sparking a cultural phenomenon.

She confirmed the Brat remix album at the recent London Fashion Week

The campaign has already taken a few twists and turns, with Brat being followed by the album’s deluxe edition: Brat and It's the Same but There's Three More Songs So It's Not.

And fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapter, as the sun sets on the so-called Brat summer and moves into the autumn.

Here are the key details.

When will the Brat remix album be released?

Brat and It's Completely Different but Also Still Brat will be released on Friday, October 11.

The LP takes tracks from the original album released in June but contains reworkings, different versions or remixes featuring new artists.

What is Brat and what was Brat Summer?

One of the big social trends of the summer, if not the biggest, involved fans embracing the music and spirit of the album.

Brat is about hedonism, which tends to have a moment during the summer anyway, even more so post-Covid, amid a financial crisis.

Fans have worn big sunglasses and slogan tees but also carried the essence of having a “wholeheartedly good time, for you, not for anyone else”.

Maddy Mussen’s review for the Standard said: “But it’s not all about the outfits, or the music, or even Charli herself.

“Brat has become bigger than Charli intended. It has become an aesthetic, a mindset, a theology. It even has the potential to become a powerful political tool, with Charli declaring US Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris “so brat” when her campaign was announced.”

However, it wasn’t all well received. London Mayor Sadiq Khan attracted criticism from former City Hall rival Susan Hall for a Brat-themed Instagram post: “Ulez is working”.

Shortly after, the American singer-songwriter Mitski paused her All Points East set when a fan repeatedly shouted “Brat green”.
