Former ministers and charities have hit out at Sir Keir Starmer for raiding the UK aid budget to crack down on illegal migration from Bangladesh rather than using the cash to help deal with humanitarian crises.

The row has broken out after it emerged that the UK plans to hand over aid money to Bangladesh’s migration ministry to deal with rogue agents selling bogus visas.
