Chargers sign 1st round WR Quentin Johnston

Quentin Johnston was the second of a series of four wide receivers drafted in a row in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. However, the Chargers draftee is the first of the group of wideouts to sign.

The Chargers and Johnston made it official on Thursday, with the TCU wideout signing his rookie contract. Johnston, the No. 21 overall pick of the draft, will earn $14.188 million over four years. The Chargers have an option for a fifth season as well.

There were no wideouts drafted until Seattle picked Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba at No. 20 overall. Johnston followed one pick later to the Chargers, with Baltimore selecting Zay Flowers from Boston College and the Vikings drafting USC’s Jordan Addison right in the sequence.
