CHANNEL 4 presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy has issued an apology after calling a Tory MP a “c***” following a “robust” interview.
The journalist had been at Westminster speaking to Steve Baker, a minister and leading Brexiteer in the Conservative Party.
Guru-Murthy had believed he was no longer on-air – but it is understood that other broadcasters and livestreams picked up the moment he used the offensive language to describe Baker.
On The Independent’s stream, Guru-Murthy could be heard saying: “Thanks a lot Steve! It wasn’t a stupid question Steve, you know it.
After a robust interview with Steve Baker MP I used a very offensive word in an unguarded moment off air. While it was not broadcast that word in any context is beneath the standards I set myself and I apologise unreservedly. I have reached out to Steve Baker to say sorry

“I’m very happy to go up against you on trust any day … what a c***.”
As the footage was shared thousands of times on social media, the senior reporter responded.
“After a robust interview with Steve Baker MP I used a very offensive word in an unguarded moment off air,” he wrote on Twitter.
“While it was not broadcast that word in any context is beneath the standards I set myself and I apologise unreservedly. I have reached out to Steve Baker to say sorry.”
Baker replied: “I appreciate you apologising. Thank you.”
