Gogglebox fans have issued a clear demand after the 'weird' move of airing the latest episode on a different day. Viewers of the hit Channel 4 show are very much used to settling down in front of the TV to watch their favourite armchair critics also settle down in front of their TVs for a look at a week on the small screen.
But on Friday night (October 21), fans didn't get what they expected when they tuned in to the latest installment fof the popular show which sees the likes of Manchester's Malone family and sibling duo Sophie and Pete Sandiford giving their opinions on the latest TV shows and breaking news that have got people talking in the last week.
This week's episode was replaced and in an unusual move, Channel 4 instead aired the brand new Gogglebox episode on Saturday night (October 22) at 9pm.
Gogglebox was replaced by a one-off revival of the stand-up and entertainment show Friday Night Live. The move was made to celebrate 40 years of Channel 4. Ben Elton will be hosting a revival of the iconic show that aired on the network in the 1980s.
And while Gogglebox fans already complained about the change to the schedule, they flocked to social media again on Saturday night to issue a demand.
@jo_sufc tweeted: "@Channel4 Please don’t mess with #gogglebox timings ever again. It just doesn’t work on a Saturday night. Gogglebox is Friday night vibes! Love from the whole of the UK!" @Moonraker_Mart echoed: "Dear @Channel4 Please don’t ever put #gogglebox on a Saturday again. It’s too weird. Thanks."
@MaggieMoo1706 shared: "It feels wrong to watch it on Saturday. Petition to. Move it back anyone? #Gogglebox." @BurnzyH added: "Whoever at @Channel4 thought it was a good idea to move #Gogglebox to a Saturday night needs to have a word with themselves!"
Others agreed that it felt 'weird'. @tvreality93 said: "Gogglebox on a Saturday feels weird #Gogglebox." @alexstanger1993 echoed: "It's so weird watching #Gogglebox on a Saturday." @Man_in_England tweeted: "#Gogglebox just not the same on a Saturday." @AlexPaterson0 shared: "Really not liking it on a Saturday night, glad it's just a one off #gogglebox."
This week's episode featured the likes of Strictly Come Dancing, Emmerdale's 50th anniversary episode, and Amazon Prime's The Ex Wife. The latest political chaos also made an appearance but fell short of including Prime Minister Liz Truss' resignation as Conservative Party leader on Thursday.
