Channel 4's Escape to the Chateau has come to an end - and the ninth season is set to be the last.
Dick Strawbridge and his wife Angel Adoree announced to fans that their much-loved reality show will come to a close after the latest series.
The popular programme has won the pair legions of followers as it followed them renovating their French chateau, turning it from a wreck of a building to a proper home and events venue, writes the Mirror.
The couple issued a statement to confirm the news, leaving fans of the show heartbroken.
However, fans need not worry too much as the Strawbridges will be fronting a new show.
In the newsletter they send to fans, the pair use the headline: "The Ninth and Final Series of Escape to the Chateau," whilst they also added they would update fans on its release date soon: "We are delighted to announce our ninth series of Escape to the Chateau will be starting soon in the UK. As soon as we have a date, you will be the first to know!"
And in a statement, the pair said they were "looking forward to the future".
"Escape to the Chateau has been our family journey; our decision to buy a Chateau with no water, electricity, heating or sewage has taken us on the adventure of a lifetime and we could never have imagined what would unfold. The good, the bad and the ugly… we have cherished every second and love that we have a visual record to show Arthur and Dorothy when they're older," they wrote.
"We're so grateful to everyone who continues to support us and we're looking forward to what the future holds. As one Chateau chapter ends, so another Chateau story begins."
Fans were devastated by the news and took to Twitter to share their disappointment.
"oooooooo it can’t be that this years #EscapetotheChateau is going to be last series, say it’s not true @dickstrawbridge," one fan penned as another added: "The 9th season of #escapetothechateau will be the last one. My heart cannot take it."
A statement from Two Rivers Media, the production company behind Escape to the Chateau, shared: "The 2022 season will be packed with more heart-warming family adventures, innovative renovations and spectacular celebrations from Dick and Angel and their children Arthur and Dorothy. But this year will also have special significance for, whilst it is not goodbye, it will be au revoir from the Chateau, because 2023 will see Dick and Angel focusing on their Secret France (wt) adventures."
