CFB analyst breaks down how MSU could reach College Football Playoff

What if I told you what is needed for Michigan State to reach the College Football Playoff? Well, one analyst has done that recently.

Kelly Ford — known for his KFord Ratings which analyze team’s resumes — has released a breakdown of how many games each team needs to be in the College Football Playoff discussion as an at-large team. For Michigan State, that number is nine.

Check out the complete breakdown from Ford below:

Michigan State is 2-0 after picking up a big road upset win last week at Maryland. The Spartans head into this week’s matchup as heavy favorites against Prairie View A&M.

So if the Spartans take care of business this week, then in theory Michigan State would only need to go 6-3 across the final nine games per Ford. Is that possible? Yes, possible. Is that likely? No, not likely. But this interesting report at least gives you an indication of what could be ahead for the Spartans should they surprise some folks this year and win more games than anyone expected.
