The Boston Celtics might see second-year wing Aaron Nesmith back in action against the Oklahoma City Thunder Monday for the first time since he sprained his ankle against the Memphis Grizzlies early in the month of March with the Vanderbilt product being listed as questionable.
But, Boston will see starting center Robert Williams III sit with knee tendinitis, as well as veteran guard Marcus Smart — recovering from a non-COVID illness — as they face the Thunder on the road. With a fairly tough remaining schedule and plenty of heavy-minutes players who could use some pre-postseason rest, this may be as much a precaution with Timelord as anything, but keep an eye out for Nesmith’s return if his ankle is feeling up to the task.
With only 10 contests left on the schedule, it would be helpful to get the South Carolina native up to speed and perhaps even with a regular role in the rotation with the time remaining with which to do it, but in Nesmith’s case his ankle will have to be ready from what was a fairly nasty sprain.
Celtics depth chart vs. Thunder

Forwards: Tatum, G. Williams, Nesmith, Hauser, Fitts
Bigs: Horford, Theis, KornetOUT: R. Williams (knee), Smart (non-COVID illness)
