Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams III is back on the basketball court and — at least for some nights recently — back in the starting lineup with Al Horford in the frontcourt. But don’t expect to see Timelord on the court for both games of a Celtics back-to-back according to interim head coach Joe Mazzulla.
Speaking ahead of Boston’s Tuesday night tilt with the New Orleans Pelicans at TD Garden, Mazzulla confirmed the team’s plan is to rest Williams in one of the games when the Celtics play contests on consecutive nights to “just manage him as much as we can.”
The Celtics coach seemed to hint this was more of a precautionary measure, relating the Louisiana native is “coming back good every single day, so that’s really good.”

Mazzulla also shared there was no reason the team elected to sit Williams against the Pelicans instead of the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday.
