Celtic transfer update with Hoops interest in Premiership starlet confirmed and bid 'accepted'

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that the club have lodged a bid for St Mirren's Dylan Reid - but that isn't something he is directly dealing with.

The teenager is highly-rated by the Hoops, who had registered an interested in him prior to his first professional contract at the Buddies. Reid has captained Scotland youth teams and spent part of last season out on loan at Championship side Queen's Park. Football Scotland report that Celtic have bid around £125k and this has been 'accepted.'

Portuguese giants Benfica are also believed to be keen on the St Mirren talent but a Celtic move looks most likely. If it does go through, Reid will initially link up with the Parkhead side's Lowland League 'B' team. Postecoglou said: “I think [Dylan Reid] that’s more for our B team. Again, I’d love to be the man for everything, but I have limitations in terms of what I’m focused on at the moment."

Meanwhile, midfielder Ismaila Soro left Celtic on Saturday night to join Portuguese outfit FC Arouca on loan with an option to buy.

Matt O'Riley, David Turnbull, Yosuke Ideguchi, James McCarthy, Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor will likely be viewed as the senior options in midfield for Postecoglou.
