Celtic to miss out on Elijah Just as star poised for record Swansea City move

Celtic transfer target Elijah Just is on the verge of a record-breaking move to Swansea City.

The New Zealand international enjoyed an excellent World Cup on a personal level with three goals scored in the group stages. Motherwell knew they would likely receive bids for their star man in the aftermath and Swans came to the table.

The Welsh outfit made an offer, according to the Daily Record, which eclipsed Lennon Miller's previous £5million record sale from the Steelmen to Udinese.

That was reportedly accepted by the Scottish Premiership and means Just will head down to complete the switch in the coming days.

Just, 26, was a standout for 'Well last season and was nominated for PFA Player of the Year. Celtic had wanted to take the playmaker to Parkhead and had made their interest known to his representation.

Although no offer was officially prepared and sent by the Scottish champions.

Now Just will play his football in the EFL Championship this coming term and the deal will leave Motherwell cash rich having earned compensation for Jens Berthel Askou, sold Elliot Watt for £1.6m and goalkeeper Calum Ward for around £750,000.

The Hoops, meanwhile, have only brought in one new signing this window in Camilo Duran.
