Celtic 'target' Tunisia World Cup star Aissa Laidouni with price tag 'named' for midfield ace

Celtic could be set to add in the midfield area with Tunisia World Cup star Aissa Laidouni, according to a report.

Ange Postecoglou has plenty of options in the engine room with Aaron Mooy and Oliver Abildgaard beefing up his numbers with the likes of skipper Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Matt O'Riley and David Turnbull at his disposal. Add James McCarthy and Yosuke Ideguchi into the reckoning and the competition for places at the Scottish champions is high.

But that has not stopped the links with a new recruit in the shape of Ferencvaros star Laidouni - who could be up for grabs for around £3.5million say Foot Mercato. His impressive form both both club and country - particularly in Qatar on the biggest stage of them all - has reportedly caught the eye of both the Hoops and German outfit Wolfsburg.

January plans are well underway at Celtic with Postecoglou already bringing in two new defensive additions ahead of the transfer window opening in a couple of weeks.

Canada star Alistair Johnston, another who impressed at the World Cup, has joined from CF Montreal to strengthen the right-back area with Josip Juranovic linked with a move away from the club next month. Atletico Madrid are set to watch the full-back in action for Croatia against Brazil later today as they mull over a big-money move.

Yuki Kobayashi - the highly-rated J-League defender - has also put pen to paper on a long-term deal at Celtic as he becomes the latest recruit to come from the league after the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda joined last season.

Celtic are back in domestic action next weekend as they face a trip to Aberdeen. They hold a nine point advantage at the Premiership summit with 14 wins and one loss to date.

They then face Livingston, St Johnstone and Hibs before an Old Firm showdown with Rangers on January 2 with Michael Beale now in the dugout following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
