Celtic starting team news vs Hibs as Liel Abada gets nod and Josip Juranovic and Rocco Vata on bench

Celtic will be looking to make it four wins on the trot since the Premiership return when they face Hibs.

Ange Postecoglou and his champions go into the evening nine points clear of nearest challengers and Old Firm rivals Rangers - who face Motherwell at Ibrox - ahead of a blockbuster midweek of top flight action. The Hoops go into this one off the back of a 4-1 win over St Johnstone but face a Hibees side who will be full of confidence after a 4-0 success over Livingston last time out.

Lee Johnson and Co will be looking to deliver some late Christmas cheer to the Easter Road faithful in front of the television cameras with the capital side just two points behind Aberdeen in third spot in the fight for the top six and European football next term. Both clubs will be going all out for a win to build up the feelgood factor ahead of derby clashes on January 2. Celtic travel to Ibrox to face Michael Beale and Rangers while Hibs make the trip across Edinburgh to face rivals Hearts at Tynecastle.

Speaking ahead of this one, Postecoglou said: “What is next for us is to get ready for a tough game in Edinburgh against a good opponent and making sure that we continue our good form.. I think it will be a tough game. We played there last season, it was a draw and it was tough for us.

“It’ll be the same. When you go there, it’s a good stadium, they get a big crowd, it feels like a big game and it’s always a good atmosphere, so you know in those kinds of games it is always going to be a bit edgy.

“You can see what Lee Johnson is trying to do. He is trying to get the team to play a certain way and he probably doesn’t have the personnel at the moment that needs to do that. But he’s sticking to it and, with a couple of more windows, I think you’ll see more and more of what he is trying.

“They definitely have some attacking threats, especially with Kevin Nisbet back as well. For us, it is going to be a really good challenge. Again, what’s really important is what we do.

“If we keep playing our football, keep improving, and be as strong as we can be, we know we are tough to beat.”
