Celtic star 'untouchable' as 'interest' from England emerges in key Ange Postecoglou player

Celtic star Giorgos Giakoumakis has been the subject of an approach from the English Premier League, according to a report.

The Greece international climbed off the bench on Sunday to score an overhead kick as the Hoops ran out 5-0 winners over Kilmarnock to make it three wins from three in the Premiership so far this season. Ange Postecoglou moved for the hitman last summer in a reported £2.5million deal from VVV-Venlo after finishing as Eredivisie top scorer.

After a slow start at Parkhead, the striker burst into life and repeated the feat he achieved the previous season as he established himself as a key man in the side that won back the league title from Rangers and also lifted the Premier Sports Cup. The league success has also guaranteed Celtic a crack at the Champions League group stages this term with the Scottish champions set to discover their fate very soon. Giakoumakis will play a key role and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported on interest from south of the border as the summer window heads for its final couple of weeks.

However, he says that the hitman is 'untouchable' and Celtic have no intention to sell.

He wrote on Twitter: "There were clubs interested in Gorgios Giakoumakis as he's doing great with Celtic, also approached by Premier League clubs in the last few days.

"Celtic have absolutely no intention to sell him: untouchable.

"He's key player - also, Giakoumakis is happy at Celtic."
