Former Airdrie hero Kerr McInroy blew a hole in Hamilton Accies' play-off hopes and said he hopes it helps to keep Ayr United in the Championship.
McInroy struck four minutes into stoppage time at Somerset Park on Friday night to cancel out Andy Winter's early opener and deny Hamilton a third successive win that would have worked wonders for their play-off aspirations.
But McInroy says he's disappointed that Ayr didn't manage to take all three points, because they're still fighting for survival.
The on-loan Celtic midfielder said: "It was a good goal and we managed to rescue a point. We're disappointed that we didn't get three, but to manage to take something from the game is obviously good for us.
"It sat up perfectly and a few people were saying 'don't shoot', but I just managed to get lucky, on the half-volley, and it went into the net before I could even look up.
"I didn't really see it, I just looked up and heard the reaction.
"In a way it feels like a win because of the excitement of scoring a late goal, but in a way we're disappointed that we didn't take three.
"Three points would have been massive for us, but we take the point in the position we're in.
"I think we have more than enough in us to stay up. We've got four games left to play and it's in our own hands, so we'll take it game by game and hopefully we can get a couple of wins in the next few games.
"But going into injury time a goal down, we'll definitely take the point."
McInroy's own future is far from certain at the moment. He's on loan at Ayr, having spent the first half of the season at League One club Airdrie, but may need to thrash something out with Celtic, who have an option of another year on him.
Either way, the 21-year-old intends to be playing regular first-team football next season.
He said: "I don't really know what's going to be coming in the next few months, but it's something to be excited about, rather than being worried about, so I'll just take it as it comes and hopefully keep enjoying my football.
"It's a difficult one because there's an optional year, so we just need to wait and see what happens.
"I've just got to do what I can do on the pitch, but next year I definitely need to be playing every week somewhere, like I'm doing just now - playing every week and enjoying it."
