Celtic 'set' to complete latest signing as star says goodbye to teammates and fans

Celtic are set to make Ermin Mahmic their latest summer signing, according to reports.

Links to the Slovan Liberec midfielder having been growing stronger in recent days and updates today are now suggesting a deal is close.

The 21-year-old was absent from the team sheet as the Czech side drew with Slavia Prague but reports from the Czech Republic suggest he was there to say goodbye to supporters and to his teammates.

And Bosnian outlet Reprezentacija claim this is because he is about to join Celtic.

It is said that German side Schalke were interested but couldn't agree on a fee with Liberec. The Czechs are believed to be demanding £6 million to £7 million.

Slovan Liberec boss Branislav Fodrek was asked about the player's future after Sunday's game.

He said: "We have an alternative with and without him, but the situation can change at any moment. He is training with the team, but it is hard to say how it will end up."

Mahmic already has five caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and scored twice for them at the World Cup, becoming the nation's highest ever scorer at the finals.

He moved to the Czech Republic last summer from Austrian outfit SV Lafnitz, and scored eight goals in all competitions.
