Celtic are reportedly close to securing the services of former Liverpool and Tottenham talent spotter Steve Hitchen.
The former Anfield man was linked with becoming Everton's director of football after a spell at White Hart Lane, but The Sun report he's close to taking on a role in Ange Postecoglou's Parkhead recruitment team. Since arriving in 2021, the Celtic manager has been lauded for his shrewd work in the market, particularly with imports from the J-League in Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.
Both Hitchen and Postecoglou have mutual friends and the reported new man in the transfer department watched his latest project on the pitch this month. The report also states that 'It would also help keep Aussie Postecoglou happy and away from potential suitors.' That will be a major relief for those in and around the club, with the former Brisbane Roar gaffer being linked to numerous positions in the Premier League this season.

Hitchen's time in the professional game as a player was short-lived and he was on the books of Blackburn Rovers, Macclesfield Town and Bangor City.
It's in recruitment he has found success, credited as a key drive behind getting Luis Suarez for a memorable stint at Liverpool.
He left Spurs earlier this year after time at EFL duo Queen's Park Rangers and Derby County in various capacities.
