Celtic player ratings v Rangers as ace's star performance goes under radar amid Abada and Jota show

Celtic have won the first Premiership derby of the season against Rangers with a massive 4-0 victory against their arch-rivals.

The Hoops were in a relentless mood and killed this one off inside 45 killer minutes. Liel Abada opened up the scoring early to get a sold-out home crowd jumping and it was two soon after, when Jota lobbed Light Blues goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.

Just when Rangers thought they had suffered enough, Celtic ensured they piled on some more prior to half-time, Abada again getting in on the act to put this game beyond doubt before they even remerged from the tunnel for a more low-key second half. One more was to come though as David Turnbull pounced on a poor Jon McLaughlin pass to roll into an empty net. The only disappointment Ange Postecoglou's men were injuries to Carl Starfelt and Kyogo Furuhashi ahead of their Champions League match with Real Madrid. Here are three things we learned from the Hoops.

Joe Hart - 7

Not a whole lot for the experienced stopper to do but made a couple big saves at the end to keep a clean sheet.

Josip Juranovic - 7

Helped set the tempo for his side by releasing the ball quickly whenever it came into his feet. Looks Champions League ready.

Cameron Carter-Vickers - 8

Showed why his team shelled out some big cash for his services. A few key blocks and neither Antonio Colak or Alfredo Morelos got a sniff against him.

Carl Starfelt - 6

A solid display albeit with a shaky moment here or there. A concern as he came off with a suspected knee problem.

Greg Taylor - 7

Another unsung hero of Celtic's, he charged up and down the left to ensure the usually clinical James Tavernier was nullified.

Callum McGregor - 7

A calm display from the midfielder who helped in building play that eventually led to a storming victory for his team

Reo Hatate - 7

Ran all day long and made key passes where required. The engine of this Hoops team.

Matt O'Riley - 9

It's easy to see why some of Europe's elite are said to be after him. Two assists and was playing the game with a cigar and slippers on. An excellent array of passes and looked a cut above anyone in midfield technically.

Jota - 9

Four goals and four assists after six games. It's going to be so exciting to see what this man can do in Europe after another dazzling display, his lob was brilliant.

Liel Abada- 9

You sometimes forget Abada is 20 years of age but the winger has shown he's primed and ready for becoming a key Hoops man. Not that his manager didn't already know that.

Kyogo Furuhashi- 3

Tough break for the forward who was injured inside a minute.

Giorgos Giakoumakis - 7

Lead the line superbly and while not scoring, was a physical presence Rangers had to try and live with.

David Turnbull - 7

Got his goal and went quietly about his business in an effective manner. Scarily good option from the bench.

Aaron Mooy - 5

A few nice passes from the Australian and ticked his team over in midfield as they coasted over the line.

Daizen Maeda - 5

Pressed and harried an already tired away defence but chances to score were limited.

Moritz Jenz - 5

Wasn't really noticed when he came on but that's testament to how well Celtic marshalled their opposition
