Hamilton Accies boss Stuart Taylor is hopeful of securing his fourth signing of the January transfer window - as early as today.
The New Douglas Park outfit have added defender Dan O'Reilly, winger Ellis Brown and forward Kai Kennedy to their ranks so far this month and Taylor is hard at work to boost his squad further ahead of Saturday's visit of Ayr in the Championship.
Taylor revealed the club are in discussions with a player they have been chasing for "some time" and he admitted a deal could be done as early as today.
Asked about their current state of play in the transfer market, Taylor told Lanarkshire Live Sport : "We are working very hard on one at this moment in time and we have been doing so for quite some time.
"It's been on, it's been off and it's back on again.
"We are trying our hardest, we are selling the club as best as we possibly can and we are hoping we can get it over the line.
"Today or tomorrow might be the day we get it done.
"The position is one we've been working on for a while and the player is one we've been speaking to for about a month now.
"We are throwing everything at it and hopefully we can get him to the club.
"I know the DNA of the lads we are after.
"We've lost out on a couple of lads in this window and there's no shame in that.
"The ones we've got in we are absolutely delighted with.
"We've made three really good signings and we are hoping to get this fourth one across the line, definitely before the weekend anyway."
One player Hamilton Accies were reportedly interested in the summer was Celtic midfielder Kerr McInroy and his name has cropped up again after a successful loan spell at League One Airdrie.
The Diamonds are very keen for the 21-year-old to extend his stay at New Broomfield but he has yet to commit to a loan extension. He has scored four goals in 13 appearances.
Asked if McInroy was a player of interest, Taylor said: "I won't confirm or deny any speculation that's going on.
"I've had names thrown at me last week, this week, there's things going about on all sorts of sites.
"There's nothing I can do about that.
"Sometimes people take a good guess, sometimes they don't but I don't like to go down the road or confirming or denying any names because players will think I'm trying to replace them.
"I've got a list of names in my room I'm looking at for this window and the next two windows, because I think having that strategy and that plan is really important."
