Celtic loan star Cameron Carter-Vickers land USA recall after 'outstanding' season

Celtic loan star Cameron Carter-Vickers has been rewarded for his fine form at Parkhead with a recall to the USA national team.

The Hoops stopper was last capped against Jamaica nearly three years ago but he's forced his way back into boss Gregg Berhalter thoughts with the World Cup finals looming.

The centre-back will take part in a busy international schedule to make his case for a spot in the final squad for Qatar 2022 during two friendlies against Morocco and Uruguay and two Concacaf Nations League games with Grenada and El Salvador.

Carter-Vickers has been a key man for Ange Postecoglou since his final day arrival on loan from Tottenham.

He played a crucial role in the Parkhead side recapturing the Premiership title from Rangers, as well as lifting the Premier Sports Cup.

The deal included an option for the Hoops to make the switch permanent with the stopper set for a huge decision to make this summer.

Champions League football is on the agenda at Parkhead next season but several English Premier League sides are believed to be tracking the Spurs loanee.

He's featured 46 times and netted four goals in all competitions for Celtic with fans desperate for the defender to put pen to paper on an extended stay.

Speaking about Carter-Vickers, Berhalter said: "Cam had an outstanding season at Celtic. They won the title and he was a key part of that.

"It will be nice to work with him again. We think he has good comfort on the ball, a good one vs one defender with speed who can cover the space in behind him.

"So we're excited to see what they can do in camp and what they can do for us."

Asked if this pool reflected the finished USA squad for the finals in November, he added: “Around the edges, there is room.

”And if a guy’s in form and doing a great job. I can expect him to to make a case to be on the roster.”
