Celtic injury concerns pile up as Giakoumakis and Maeda suffer similar blows with Juranovic rested

Celtic haven't had much luck in the form of good news stemming on the injury front this international break.

A host of Hoops star have been representing their countries over the last week but it hasn't been without consequence as some of them picking up some fitness concerns. Liel Abada featured for 77 minutes in Israel's 2-1 win over Albania at the weekend and was said to have limped off, but was spotted walking around the pitch at full-time in a positive boost.

Josip Juranovic will also have had a week of rest in the lead up to Premiership action beginning again versus Motherwell at Parkhead this weekend, named as an unused substitute in Croatia's 3-1 victory against Austria on Sunday. There's less good news when it comes to Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis, who according to reports, has been put on a personal programme by Greece amid his fitness concerns.

He missed the weekend's match with Cyprus through suspension but had gone for an MRI scan on a thigh issue, which flagged no issues. He is now a doubt for the midweek clash with Northern Ireland in Athens.

Fellow forward Daizen Maeda featured in a friendly for Japan against the USA last week but is now reportedly facing a fitness sweat too.

The 24-year-old has missed the final training session ahead of a friendly Ecuador, with the Japanese FA stating Maeda stayed at their team hotel with a thigh injury.

David Turnbull also pulled out of the Scotland squad due to injury and a knock forced Cameron Carter-Vickers away from USA involvement.
