Celtic injury boost as Sweden boss offers positive Carl Starfelt update

Sweden boss Janne Andersson has handed Celtic good news after explaining why he decided to include Carl Starfelt in his squad despite the defender limping off last week.

Starfelt was included for Sweden's Euro 2024's double header qualifiers against Belgium and Azerbaijan this week. He was subbed at half time during Celtic's Scottish Cup win at Hearts.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou explained: "He felt a niggle in his hip flexor during the warm-up actually.

"He felt it early on in the game but we got it through to half-time and we could see he wasn't moving well in the first half. You could see he wasn't his normal self so we made the change."

And Sweden boss Andersson has strongly hinted Starfelt will be in line to win his sixth cap for his country a week today in Stockholm.

He said: "The forecast with Carl Starfelt is quite positive. He should be available otherwise I would not have called him."
