Celtic 'in talks' with Brighton over possible Matt O'Riley transfer

Brighton have entered talks with Celtic over a deal for Matt O'Riley, according to a report.

Sky Sports says the clubs are in negotiation over the possible transfer of the Denmark international.

The Scottish Premiership giants have already rejected three offers from Serie A side Atalanta this summer.

Now, it seems Brighton are looking to steal the march in the race to sign the 23-year-old.

The same report claims that O'Riley is on the radar of a number of clubs, including Chelsea.

The Stamford Bridge club are looking for possible replacements for Conor Gallagher as he looks set to complete his move to Atletico Madrid this summer.

O'Riley started in the 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon, as Brendan Rodgers fielded his best players against their weakened opponents.

The transfer saga relating to the attacking midfielder has rumbled on for some time.

So, if talks with Brighton progress well, then the player could be on his way to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi was denied a penalty despite huge appeals as he went down in the box against Kilmarnock.

The Japanese forward latched onto a smart lofted ball from Matt O'Riley - from a free-kick - before colliding with Robby McCrorie.

Kyogo had controlled the ball before McCrorie connected with the striker to leave him in a heap in the box. It did not appear McCrorie touched the ball before bumping into the forward.

However, no penalty was awarded, in the eventual 4-0 win, by referee Don Robertson and no VAR review was advised.

There had been a suggestion of a possible offside on Kyogo in the build-up but former referee Bobby Madden has explained a screenshot of the offside would have been shown if that was the reason for no spot-kick being awarded.
