Celtic are in "advanced talks" to sign Bosnian World Cup star Ermin Mahmic, according to a new report.

The Scottish champions aim to seal a £7 million deal for the 21-year-old from Slovan Liberec. This could rise with potential add-ons.

The Daily Record reports that Celtic are confident of agreeing on personal terms and a long-term contract with Mahmic. He has reportedly already said his goodbyes to his Liberec teammates ahead of the potential move.

If the deal goes through, Celtic will need to secure a Governing Body Endorsement and work permit.

Per the report, Celtic are keen on several players but replacing Arne Engels is their immediate priority. They are also likely to receive a significant financial boost by reaching the Champions League group stages.

Martin O’Neill’s side take a 3-0 lead to Austria for their play-off second leg against LASK and are expected to complete the job.

The club also wants to add midfield depth, with Hajduk Split’s Niko Sigur high on their list. The Canada international can play in midfield or at right-back, potentially covering Alistair Johnston’s injury.

Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis is another player Celtic are interested in.
