It seems that not everyone is happy with the names being linked with Rangers even before the transfer window opens.
Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, for instance, is unimpressed with Rangers being linked with Luis Palma. He emailed: "Luis Palma, a virtually unknown quantity, the Honduran player, has similar big aspirations as Alfredo Morelos in that he's desperate to play in the English Premier League. His agent is keen for that to happen, and failing that it's the European leagues and it's all about the money he can get, so he'll never arrive at Ibrox. Certainly Rangers couldn't pay his required weekly wage. Why would Beale want him when he's got Hagi as a right winger? Beale's priority should be a big goal scoring No. 9."
Neil Renton, Edinburgh, emailed: "First it was Joe Hart going to Celtic and now Jack Butland looks set for Rangers. It’s good to see struggling English goalies don’t retire - they just come to Scotland to have a cushy spell between the sticks. It’s like that film Cocoon with all the oldies being rejuvenated." George McEwan, Paisley, reckons that one loan signing who did well at Ibrox won't be back, saying: "Rangers fans don't get your hopes up for Malik Tillman. I don't think the Rangers board will fork out £5million on one player."
Todd Cantwell continues to attract attention. John Caw emailed: "Generally I thought referee Steven McLean had a good game at Ibrox, apart from the non-booking of Cantwell. In my opinion, though, he got away with it, persistently fouling and when he caught Maeda on the head, for me that was the last straw. He didn't even give a free kick for a high boot when others have been sent off this season."
Robert Frew, Glasgow, emailed: "As Todd Cantwell puts it…Rangers never beat Celtic, Celtic beat Celtic. Or words to that effect."
And finally, Ian Renton emailed: "I notice that Hearts successfully appealed Peter Haring’s red card, saying it should have been a yellow. I am fed up with the attitude that, 'it was a good foul', 'he had to bring him down' or 'he took one for the team'. Let us call it what it is 'CHEATING!'. It sets a terrible example for kids, that says it is okay to cheat. Instead of committing professional fouls why do coaches not teach players the art of tackling. I despair at the lack of technique shown by modern footballers when it comes to tackling."
