Celebrity stylist Gok Wan will give Londoners a spooky makeover for Halloween

Londoners are in for a “spooktacular” makeover to help get them ready to celebrate Halloween – by none other than fashion expert, Gok Wan.

The celebrity stylist will help turn shoppers into witches, zombies, ghosts, and more, with the help of a team in make-up artists – just in time to celebrate the big night.

It is hoped the transformations will be a sight to remember – as more than a third (39%), of 2,000 Halloween lovers polled, revealed they feel pressure to “wow” others with their costumes.

Gok, who has teamed up with confectionary brand M&Ms for the makeovers, said: “Dressing up for Halloween involves money, time, and effort, with over a third of people saying it is their favourite time of the year.

“I want to help people get trick or treat ready, looking fabulous and primed for the next Instagram snap, whatever their budget and time constraints.”

Of those planning to dress up this year, 42% claim they’ll “go all out” with their choice of costume.

And 45% admit their motivation for going that extra mile is to go down a storm with followers on social media.

For those looking to succeed in this respect, the costumes which create the biggest wow factor tend to be homemade (13%), and include amazing make-up (14%).

However, four in five costume wearers (79%) admit they could do with some help when it comes to blowing away the competition.

And 29% wish they had someone to do “incredible” make up for them, while 21% would like some assistance in finding the perfect costume.

It also emerged those polled consider dressing up as a witch (17%) to be the most iconic Halloween costume of all-time – followed by a ghost (15%) and a zombie (14%).

The study, carried out via OnePoll, also found that while fancy dress plays a crucial part for many, one in three (32%) consider the treats to be one of the best things about Halloween.

Leah Dyckes, M&M’s brand director, said: “Celebrating Halloween is getting bigger and bigger, and with that comes the demand to step up the costume game.

“Whether it’s finding the perfect trick or treating outfit, or smashing the party fancy dress, we’re delighted to have Gok Wan as our spooktacular stylist, to inspire confidence and help people get in the Halloween spirit.”

Gok Wan will be at Leicester Square M&M’s World store on October 31 from 3pm until 7pm, alongside a team of make-up artists, to provide free Halloween makeovers. You can book your makeover here.
