Four boys were rescued from a cliffside cave at Thornwick Bay in North Yorkshire, England, on Saturday, 10 October. The operation unfolded in difficult sea conditions and required a coordinated effort by the Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team, Filey Coastguard Rescue Team and an emergency rescue helicopter.
Although all four boys were brought to safety, the incident drew renewed attention to the bay's history of maritime emergencies and the dangers posed by its sea caves. One previous incident proved fatal.
