CeCe's: Hospitality group behind the Fat Badger to open glamourous Italian restaurant

Now you CeCe me, now you don’t - (CeCe's)

Burgeoning hospitality enterprise the Public House Group has today revealed a new restaurant concept, less than six months after its last project.

Founders Phil Winser, James Gummer and Olivier van Themsche will open CeCe’s in Notting Hill on Wednesday (March 4), a glamourous Italian restaurant “with a hint of Hollywood”.

“Initially we looked at the space as it was once a pub, but we fell in love with the glamour and unique design,” said the trio in a statement sent to the Standard.

“The surreal interiors and character hidden behind the copper door inspired us to create a restaurant that felt both current and exciting, whilst retaining the allure of traditional hospitality.”

CeCe’s is described by the team as an old school Italian, bringing dishes such as aubergine parmigiana, bream carpaccio with caviar, fonduta agnolotti, chicken vignole and bistecca alla Fiorentina.

The wine list is to heavily feature Italian wines, though there will be a “sizable Burgundy and Bordeaux section” too alongside classics from the rest of Europe and the US.

Though rooted in Italian dining, the venture also draws inspiration from America, bringing the glitz and intimacy for which the Public House Group has become known.

“CeCe’s brings a timeless, playful feel to west London, pairing old school hospitality with a sense of secrecy and escapism,” read the press announcement.

Gummer added: “We want CeCe’s to feel glamorous and fun. Somewhere our guests can come to escape the day to day and transport them to a different place and time.”

The restaurant will be set across two floors and will feature soft fabrics and glossy finishes, with palm trees, low lighting and table lamps.

CeCe’s follows the upmarket pub The Hart in Marylebone, another successful launch from the group, as well as the ever-popular Fat Badger, pasta joint Canteen, and gastropubs The Hero of Maida Vale, The Pelican, and the Bull at Charlbury in Oxfordshire.

It also follows numerous high-profile Italian and Italian-American restaurants that have opened in London lately, including Osteria Vibrato, Martino’s and Tiella.

CeCe’s will open on March 4 at 123 Clarendon Road, Notting Hill, ceceslondon.com
