Time discloses the truth, and through six games of the 2023 season, there are some realities forming about the Houston Texans.
One area that seems to be true is the development of Nico Collins as a number one receiver. The former 2021 third-rounder leads the Texans with 29 catches for 547 yards and three touchdowns — only tight Dalton Schultz has as many scoring receptions. Receiver Robert Woods has one more target than does Collins — 43 to 42 — but nevertheless the 24-year-old is far more productive.
According to Jamey Eisenberg from CBS Sports, given Collins’ production and the shakiness of the Carolina Panthers’ secondary, the Texans’ wideout is a great candidate to start in fantasy football lineups for Week 8.
The Panthers have struggled with No. 1 receivers for most of this season, and I expect that to continue in Week 8 against Collins. Starting in Week 2, Chris Olave (14.6 PPR points), DK Metcalf (17.2 PPR points), Justin Jefferson (26.5 PPR points), Josh Reynolds (17.6 PPR points with Amon-Ra St. Brown out) and Tyreek Hill (28.3 PPR points) have all crushed Carolina’s secondary. Collins should follow suit, and he has at least 12.0 PPR points in four of six games this season. I like him as a top-15 Fantasy receiver in all leagues for Week 8.
According to Pro Football Reference, Collins has accumulated 72.7 points through six games, averaging to a little over 12.1 per game. Two of Collins’ last three games have gone over the 20-point threshold.
Kickoff against Carolina is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Central Time from Bank of America Stadium.
