Catherine Zeta-Jones has shared two rare pictures of her daughter Carys to celebrate her 19th birthday. And, within eight hours, more than 37,000 of the Hollywood actress' Instagram followers had liked the black-and-white images, with many commenting on how Carys looked just like her famous mum.
The first photo shows Carys as a little girl hugging her mother and giving the sweetest smile, where she is missing her two front teeth. The second is a shot of her as a young woman standing on a beach close to the sea, while wearing a bikini top and a flowing skirt.
Zeta-Jones, 52, posted the following words with the two photographs: "Happy 19th Birthday to my beautiful daughter (inside and out) Carys, everyday is a joy because of you. I love you with all my heart. Mama."
Fans quickly added comments underneath, with one exclaiming: "The absolute cutest mon and daughter there is!!!!" Another simply said: "Beauty like her mama", while a third added: "Beautiful family. Your children just shine."
In reference to Zeta-Jones' Oscar as Best Supporting Actress for the film Chicago in 2002 and how quickly time had passed since, a fourth comment read: "Happy Birthday Carys!! Weren't we JUST watching you win an Oscar with her in your tummy?"
Carys' dad and Zeta-Jones' 77-year-old husband Michael Douglas also took to Instagram to congratulate his daughter on turning 19 with a video message and by posting another picture of her stood on a balcony with a view of a lake and a spectacular sunset. The Basic Instinct actor said: "Happy birthday my Carys Zeta!
"It’s your old man! Beaming about you, so proud of you and wishing you a great new year!
"It’s going to be fabulous and you’re the best. I love you! Dad."
In response, his daughter posted: "Thank you so much Dadda! You are the most wonderful father and inspiration on the world.
"Thank you for all you do for me. I love you so much."
Carys is the youngest daughter of the Hollywood A-listers, who got engaged on New Year's Eve in 1999 and married in November 2000. The couple's other child is 21-year-old Dylan.
Acting legend Douglas has previously confessed that he found it "rough" when he was mistaken for Carys' grandad at her high school graduation last year. He told The Kelly Clarkson Show: "I gotta tell you, Kelly, it’s a little rough when you’re going out the doors and the other parents are saying, 'Oh congratulations… you must be so proud of your granddaughter'.
"I said, 'Well, I don’t know, man. Yeah, okay'. I’m not gonna take it personal, they’re just trying to be nice."
A year ago, meanwhile, Zeta-Jones revealed that both her children had expressed an interest in embarking on acting careers. She told TODAY on a video chat: "The journey I've had as an actor has been extraordinary, so I can only encourage them to do what they love.
"Their passion is about acting as a craft and they've done every theatre camp... My kids went off to summer camp every year, to theatre camp with all the Broadway kids, and held their own very, very well, I have to say."
