Shocking video footage shows a heartless thug picking up a pet cat and launching it 10ft onto hard tarmac.
Nine-year-old Lily was perched on a wall in Litherland, Merseyside, when the brazen brute picked her up and launched her into the air.
The gut wrenching moment was captured on CCTV on April 12.
Lily's family said the incident came to light after a neighbour warned them that she had seen a man hurting a cat and encouraged them to check their CCTV.
When they looked through the footage, they were shocked to see their beloved pet being hurt.
"My sister couldn’t stop crying after seeing the video and I think my parents were more shocked and angry," her owner told the Liverpool Echo.
"My sister's dad put a post on Facebook and people are absolutely outraged and disgusted.
"Lily is known in the street for always being outside and sitting in the neighbours' plant pot. I really hope it hasn’t affected her going outside. She’s really old and frail too.
"I’ve moved out and have two cats myself and would be distraught if something like that happened to mine, so close to our home where they should be safe."
In the clip, a man is seen walking down the road with his head down and stopping by a wheelie bin next to the cat.
Reaching over cautiously, he slowly lowers his hand down to the unsuspecting animal before tightly gripping the fur on her back.
The cold-hearted hoodlum then violently hurls Lily high into the air before she comes crashing down and collides with the hard tarmac below.
The poor feline bounces on its back before quickly getting on its feet and scurrying away in fear.
He then saunters down the street, staring at the terrified pet as goes.
The family has now made the decision to keep Lily indoors "in case this is something this man does regularly" and sent the CCTV footage to Merseyside Police.
The clip was shared to social media from users in shock, gaining more than 160,000 views and 2,500 shares.
Social media users were absolutely shocked by the man's actions.
