Carson Wentz appeared before the media Wednesday and provided some insights into who he is becoming as an adult.
Wentz admitted it’s been tough with the injury (broken finger on passing hand) yet he said he is “thankful because obviously, it could have been much worse. A lot of guys go through much worse.”
Traded from the Colts, Wentz came here to be the starter. Yet over the weekend was informed by Coach Rivera, that he is going forward with Taylor Heinicke as the starter.
“I get it; this is part of the business. I totally understand where we are as a team. As a competitor you want to be out there; this is what I signed up for. At the same time, I have a great relationship with Taylor and the guys. I have been happy to see him succeed. I’m going to do what I can to help and support him and be a part of this; ready to go because we know this league is crazy. Things happen, and I’ll stay ready to go.”
Apparently, Wentz and his wife are hosting several teammates at their place for Thanksgiving.
“I try not to change. Circumstances shouldn’t change who you are as a person. My wife has planned everything for Thanksgiving, so I can take zero credit for that.”
“I’ve had really good moments in my career, and moments I wish I could have back any maybe do differently and better. You take it as it comes. As a man of faith, I always believe there’s always a bigger plan, and I trust that.”
“I’ve learned in this business and in life, there are a lot of things outside of our control. As a man, sometimes that is hard because you want to have control of your destiny and those things. For me, it’s about having faith and trust and not letting your circumstances change you.”
“The surgery went well, the doctor did an awesome job. Rehab has gone really well, so I feel really good.”
“Listen, I try not to play all those games (scenarios) in my head because you can drive yourself mad. As a man, a person, you start to think big picture. What about next year, my career? Then I try to hone it back in. Just be present, be positive, and be where I am. Next week will take care of itself.”
