Carol Vorderman made a surprise return to our TV screens this morning as she make her debut hosting ITV's Lorraine. The former Countdown star even left Susanna Reid doing a double-take as she arrived for work on Good Morning Britain on Monday (July 11).
When Susanna and co-host Ed Balls went to throw to Lorraine Kelly for her usual appearance on GMB to tease what is coming up on their show,they were greeted by Carol who was only a guest on the show a matter of weeks ago as she spoke about her latest TV appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox.
She explained that she had been drafted in to the replace Lorraine after the Scottish TV star tested positive for Covid. "Sadly, Lorraine has caught the dreaded you know what and I'm sitting in here for a few days which I'm delighted to do," Carol explained. She added: "But we are wishing her a speedy recovery," as Susanna added: "Get well soon, Lorraine!"

Lorraine has also tweeted to confirm her absence is due catching the virus. She wrote: "Well the Covid has finally got me and I tested positive at the weekend. Thanks to the vaccine it’s not too bad and I hope to be back at work very soon." She added: "Huge thanks to @carolvorders who will be hosting @lorraine until I’m back."
Carol put on a sunny display, with Susanna commenting she was a 'vision', as she donned a bright yellow cut-out top, which she tucked into a skirt. The TV personality looked ageless as she kept her blonde locks straights during her stint at the helm of the talk show.
But viewers were quickly distracted by Carol thank to her laugh. Early into the show, the host was left in stitches while chatting to Dr Amir Khan. The GP had to briefly pause his segment which he was conducting via video link from his surgery in Leeds.
That's because his mum was giving him a ring, with Amir admitting she always calls him when she sees him on the TV. Aww!
Viewers were, however, as already mentioned, distracted by Carol's laugh. @Di2409 asked: "Is that laugh for real? #lorraine." @LowMoorCottages wrote: "Carol Vorderman’ laugh is hilarious #lorraine." But @R3TRO8OY complained: "Carol Vorderman has just beaten Jimmy Carr for the title of ‘Worlds most irritating Laugh’ #lorraine."
Carol had already confirmed that she'd be fronting the show, sharing a series of posed snaps while donning a tight-fitting gym ensemble on social media. Carol said in her caption: "Really happy to be hosting @lorraine show for a few days this week while The Boss has a welcome rest. See you on the telly tomorrow morning bright and early, gang."
