Carol McGiffin denies feud with Lorraine Kelly after appearing to brand star 'revolting'

Loose Women 's Carol McGiffin has denied a behind the scenes spat with fellow ITV star Lorraine Kelly after she was seen to brand the presenter "revolting" in a now-deleted tweet.

Carol appeared to take a swipe at Lorraine and other TV celebs in the post, which has since disappeared from Twitter.

The 61-year-old took aim at stars including Piers Morgan, Karren Brady and Dr Hilary Jones, labelling them "revolting human beings".

According to The Mirror, responding to a tweet about the stars, Carol posted: "Profiting from other people’s misfortune. Msm [mainstream media] mercenaries.

"I’d go further than that. They are revolting human beings and that’s being generous."

Her response sparked a huge outcry on social media after fans noticed daytime star Lorraine in the line-up.

Carol has now confirmed she deleted the post from her page after the mistake was brought to her attention.

She told The Mirror in a statement: "Unfortunately I retweeted it without looking at the whole picture.

"I didn't see the bottom row and I deleted it as soon as I saw lovely Lorraine who has no place in that rogues gallery."

The star didn't specifically mention any names in her original tweet, but a source told OK! Magazine how her choice to publicly hit out at the famous faces has "ruffled feathers" behind-the-scenes.

“Carol is very outspoken and believes in freedom of speech, but it has ruffled a few feathers at ITV,” they said.

It's not the fist time there has been drama amongst the stars at ITV.

In recent months, there were rumours of a fall out amongst Coleen Nolan and Nadia Sawalha, Carol McGiffin and Stacey Solomon after it was claimed they were all refusing to work with her - which Coleen later denied.

The alleged drama stemmed back to a tweet sent by Coleen’s talent agent, Melanie Blake, which was sent back in August 2020 that branded 57-year-old Nadia a "nasty witch".

The Mail on Sunday published a report that claimed Coleen's co-stars can't bear to be in the same room as her.

Coleen tweeted shortly afterwards: "Nothing printed in The Mail article today is true & I am taking legal advice about the slurs on me personally."

She added: "We’ll also be addressing it on @loosewomen. Thanks for your support. Love Coleen xx."

She also declared on Instagram : "Just say you may have seen an article about me & loose women today on line - I’m not going to repeat all the tripe they’ve printed but take it from me none of it is true."

And she went on to thank fans who had sent her messages of support and encouragement following the Mail on Sunday's explosive report.
