Carlos Corberan has revealed that West Brom made a lasting impression on him during their promotion race with Leeds United in 2019-20.
The Spaniard was understudy to Marcelo Bielsa at the time as Leeds lifted the Championship title courtesy of a 10-point lead over the Baggies.
But Slaven Bilic's men also secured a place in the Premier League by pipping both Brentford and Fulham to the last automatic promotion spot.
Corberan, who penned a new long-term deal at West Brom this week to fend off interest from Leeds, has recalled how he realised just how big of a club the Baggies were during that campaign.

"It's different, Marcelo arrived to the club at the beginning of one season. We achieved the play-offs but after we couldn't get promoted, we lost the first game (semi-final)," Corberan revealed via Birmingham Live.
"In the second season the team won the Championship and promotion automatically with West Brom too, Leeds first and West Brom second.
"We had a very nice competition between the two teams, I remember we were playing together and it was the first time West Bromwich impacted me a lot. The first time I came here with Leeds playing against West Bromwich I was thinking 'wow my God! It's a big one!'
"This memory stayed with me and to have the possibility to now be the coach and manager of West Bromwich, to be in this big club and say now I represent them, is a lot. It's a lot. That's why I'm so pleased with the extension of my contract, my commitments, and this feeling it gives me the responsibility to keep working hard to try to put this club in the highest level we can put it, as it's a very massive club."
Corberan succeeded Steve Bruce at the Hawthorns with West Brom sitting second from bottom in the Championship. They even plummeted to the bottom of the table following a 2-0 defeat against Sheffield United on his debut.
But the Baggies have since won 10 of their last 12 league games (L2) and have climbed into the play-off positions after Corberan's impressive start to life at the club.
