The Arizona Cardinals, fresh off the bye week, are working on player evaluations. Last week, they brought in a number of punters and long snappers. Unless there is a new unreported injury among the specialists, the Cardinals are likely doing some homework for the offseason, as both punter Andy Lee and long snapper Aaron Brewer will be free agents.
They had another four players in for tryouts on Tuesday after coming back from the bye.
According to the NFL transaction report, they brought in two tight ends, a receiver and a quarterback.
Tight end Austin Allen was one of the two tight ends. He is a 6-8, 260-pounder who played collegiately at Nebraska. He was an undrafted rookie this year who signed with the Giants and was later released in October.
Dominique Dafney was the other tight end. He is 6-2 and 243 lbs. He played 15 games and had four catches for the Packers in 2020-2021. He spent time this season with the Broncos but did not appear in a game.
Calvin Jackson was the one receiver they brought in. He is a 5-10, 194-lb undrafted rookie out of Washington State. He spent the offseason and preseason with the Jets.
They also brought in quarterback Carson Strong, was a standout at Nevada and signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent. he was released in August. He is 6-4 and 215 lbs. Over his final two seasons at Nevada, he completed more than 70 percent of his passes and threw 63 touchdown passes.
