Background
Whiteheart was an undrafted free agent the Cardinals signed after the draft. He played collegiately for Wake Forest.
He is 6-foot-4 and 247 pounds. He played three seasons for Wake Forest and caught 44 passes for 541 yards and six touchdowns.
He is a decent and willing blocker.
2023 salary, cap hit
The Cardinals really wanted Whiteheart. While he signed a three-year deal, he was given a $15,000 signing bonus and $200,000 of his $750,000 salary is fully guaranteed.
His cap hit in 2023 will be $755,000.
Roster outlook
Based on the salary guarantee, the Cardinals likely expect him to be a part of the team, whether on the roster or on the practice squad.
The tight end room only has two locks to make the team with Zach Ertz and Trey McBride. The rest in the room are unproven and young like Whiteheart.
He would seem to be one of the favorites to land a third or fourth tight end spot on the roster.
