The Arizona Cardinals made a move to bolster their cornerback room. With only three healthy cornerbacks on the roster and an injured Antonio Hamilton, the team announced a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire cornerback Travon Mullen Jr.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it is a conditional seventh-round draft pick that can become a sixth-round pick if he meets certain playing time levels.
Mullen was drafted in the second round in 2019 by the Raiders. He is 6-2, 200 lbs and was college teammates with Cardinals linebacker Isaiah Simmons at Clemson.
He appeared in 37 games for the Raiders over the last three seasons, starting 31 of them. He has 134 total tackles in his career, four interceptions and 28 pass breakups. He played in only five games last season.
He likely will be No. 4 on the depth chart to start the season but could get playing time in Week 1, depending on the health of Antonio Hamilton.
Mullen will get to face his former team in Week 2, as the Raiders host the Cardinals that week.
