Cardinals to Hire Drew Petzing as Offensive Coordinator, per Sources

The Cardinals are set to hire Browns quarterbacks coach Drew Petzing as their new offensive coordinator, sources told Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer on Sunday.

Petzing’s deal with the Cardinals is likely to be for three years, per Breer. This will be his first time working as an offensive coordinator.

The new OC will work with new head coach Jonathan Gannon next season. Petzing and Gannon worked together for the Vikings from 2014–17. While Gannon worked as Minnesota’s assistant defensive backs coach, Petzing was an offensive assistant and assistant quarterbacks coach during that span.

Petzing will take on an Arizona offense that finished 21st in points scored and 22nd in yards in 2022, the team’s worst rankings since quarterback Kyler Murray joined the team in 2019. Murray will be recovering from ACL surgery and is likely to miss the beginning of the 2023 season.

Additionally, Gannon hired Nick Rallis as his defensive coordinator on Saturday. The two coaches also worked together previously, coming off two seasons together with the Eagles. Rallis worked as the linebackers coach in Philadelphia.
